There is rising interest in the health-promoting benefits of the ancient exercise arts of Tai chi and QiGong among both the public and the health care industry sectors. Tai chi quan (also know as ‘taiji chuan’ or shortened to ‘tai chi’) is a subtle martial art rooted in Daoist philosophy. When Tai chi is performed for health, it is a form of QiGong. The collective term ‘Tai chi/QiGong’ is used to represent this type of practice. While Tai chi and QiGong are similar, they are not synonymous.
